Purge: Anarchy Review

Review of the Purge Anarchy:

Purge: Anarchy is a follow up to the movie Purge. The story lines have no correlation but the concept of the Purge remains. The original movie was thought to be amazing when the trailers were shown but everyone was let down by the end product. It was cheesy and not well thought out. The concept was golden but it was executed horribly.

The directors thought they could roll with that and turn that negative into a positive. In the trailer they even announced it as a better execution of the original idea. This of course gave people a positive outlook, “They know they messed up, they are gonna improve.” Right? No… Wrong…

The Purge Anarchy followed the cliche classic movie formula. Purge is coming up and people aren’t safe. Problem. Bad ass guy saves them, solution. A few lives are spared here and there but we do not get to know the characters enough to actually care when they die. They don’t develop the characters, except the Badass (who wasn’t even the main main character?) and they overdeveloped him. They go into so much detail about his problems and everything that makes him cool. I mean yeah he is cool, but they need to focus on the other characters!

They did give me a twist when (Spoiler alert) Badass dude didn’t kill the man who killed his son, but it was just too cliche that he survived being shot to the chest because the purge bell saved him.

Overall this movie was a 6/10. It helped me pass the time but I do not think they have produced anything that really lives up to the concept.  Although maybe there will be a, “Purge: Okay We Did It Right This Time.”

Dolphin Tales 2

On a Friday night, desperate to do anything remotely fun, I somehow wound up going to see the movie Dolphin Tales 2. I was initially concerned that because I didn't watch Dolphin Tales 1, I would be completely missing out. However I recently watched the first one, and it is the exact same thing. I could make a post summarizing the whole story, in one sentence: Dolphin is hurt on shore, mating problems ensue, then dolphin love is made.

The movie is as corny as it could possibly get. We start off with a young boy who gets the opportunity to go on a boat trip studying aquatic life. Its an amazing opportunity only offered to the gifted so this is  a big deal for him. However he has the ultimatum of picking this trip or rehabilitating a dolphin. Oh yeah, and he might also like this girl that is helping with the dolphin. Blahblahblah, he obviously picks to stay. The dolphin is saved and can mate with other dolphins and he also manages to go on the trip.

IMDb rates this movie 6.6/10, and let me say that is very generous. It seems as though it is written by a 5 year old with a book of cliches. There is no beauty to this movie or some complex over arching meaning. It simply is trash and that's all. I have no idea how someone could even rate this 5/10 because I wanted to walk out the second I walked in.
